The Most Common Relationship Breakers

relationship breakersRelationship breakers come in many forms and they can creep up on you if you lose focus.  Love is a bit of a mystery. We don’t really know where it comes from or how it binds people together.

All we know is that it can be the best thing in the world when the person you love loves you back just as much, but it can also be the worst thing, when you can do nothing right, and the whole world seems to be falling apart.

Unfortunately these are the ups and downs of a relationship, since they are the product of our fickle human emotions. But the bad times need not necessarily mean the end of your relationship. Many couples go through stretches of time when the relationship is very difficult, but they work through it and come out the other side.

The Most Common Relationship Breakers

There is no secret in making a relationship work; you just have to work at it. A good relationship is a balancing act, and it can be difficult to maintain. But there are some common mistakes or errors in judgment that can mean the end of your relationship. Of course the big ugly error, that causes lies and distrust, is infidelity.

There are many reasons or excuses for being unfaithful to your partner, but at the end of the day it is something that you did and you have to take responsibility for the fact that this error has cost you your relationship.

There are very few relationships that can come back from a betrayal like this because at an essential level you have destroyed the trust within the relationship. This may be the big error but there are also smaller but equally hurtful ones. As relationships progress they change and that feeling of passion may cool to the extent that you feel no chemistry anymore.

Some couples find that they mould into versions of themselves that they think their partners want. This is of course a dangerous course to take, since they got into a relationship with you, as you, not as who they want you to be. If you are not secure in yourself, then how can you expect anyone else to be.

Looking for reassurance from another person about how much you do or don’t deserve can be a slippery slope. Insecurity can also often lead to serious jealousies which can become ugly very quickly. So it is best to avoid jealousy as all costs.

Communication is key to a healthy relationship, so if you aren’t talking or just aren’t talking about the things that matter, then this can end your relationship. Equally, if your relationship ranks below friends or work on your list of priorities you may need to rethink things.

If you have not taken the time to get over your previous failed relationship you are likely to take all of your hurt and insecurity into your next relationship. It can also be extremely damaging to go into a relationship with an unfair set of expectations. If you have too high expectations then you will never be happy with what you have.
